Wine Accessories, Gizmos, And Gadgets
As if wine itself didn’t have enough pizzazz, there are many wine accessories, gizmos and gadgets to add even more and to make your wine life a whole lot easier. In addition to these items below, check out the
wine gifts page
for more goodies. Also, check out 12 essentials for enjoying wine only at Wine Enthusiast. What you find may be a surprise! I bet you didn’t know some of these wine accessories existed. Neither did I. So here we go… Carafes. Available in quarter, half, and full bottle sizes. These are similar to
decanters and allow you to aerate your wine.
Simply by pouring the bottle into the carafe and again into your glass, your wine will open up. Bad news is that you’ll have to drink all the wine in the carafe since you can’t pour it back into the bottle. On second thought, maybe that’s not so bad. - Dump buckets. Use these to pour excess wine during wine tastings.
- Foil Cutters. Another fine gadget for
opening wine.
Just attach it to the top of the bottle, twist, pull off the foil, and now you’re ready for the corkscrew.
- Hygrometers. This device measures the humidity in your room or
wine cellar.
- Ice buckets. Gotta have one to cool down those
warm wines.
- Vinturi Red Wine Aerator.
This is a neat gadget which instantaneously aerates your wine as you pour it. About four inches long, you pour the wine through it into your glass. With a bubbling sound it mixes the wine with air. For the fun of it,
try a sip
before pouring it into the aerator and another sip afterwards. You’d be amazed. - Wine Carriers And Wine Totes. Carry your wine to a party or picnic or whatever. Many hold several bottles and have space for
wine glasses,
corkscrews,
napkins, etc. Some even have wheels like airline luggage.
- Wine Charms. For your wine party, attach these to the stem of each guest’s glass. Keeps the glasses from getting mixed up and God forbid, somebody else drinking your wine. Of course if there is lipstick on a glass and you’re a man - no brainer.
Take advantage of Winston's Sweet Deals of the Day today from Wine Enthusiast! Who is Winston? He's a guy who is offering some great bargains for you! - Wine Chiller. There are couple of kinds of chillers. One is an insulated one bottle container designed to cool your wine and keep it cool. Just insert the bottle. The other is a sleeve that you wrap around the bottle to cool it down. You store the sleeve in the freezer and then wrap your warm bottle of wine in one of these for about 15 minutes.
- Wine Pourers. These attach to the top of the bottle. Great for eliminating that annoying dribble of wine down the neck of the bottle after you pour it.
- Wine Preservers. This gizmo pumps nitrogen or carbon dioxide into the bottle. Heavier than air, the gas sits on top of the remaining wine to blanket the aroma and
flavor.
Keeps the wine from going flat.
Find pourers, bags, chillers, charms, and more at Wine Enthusiast - Wine Stain Removers. Sooner or later, some wine will land on your nice carpet or clothes. Made from fruit extracts, these will remove those stains. Really works. I once saw a spillage cleaned up and I couldn’t tell it was there.
- Wine Stoppers. If you don’t finish your wine right away, put one of these on the bottle. You could put the cork back, but these look so much nicer. Just make sure there is a good seal.
- Wine Tags. For that thousand bottle (or ten bottle) cellar, you need to know what you have. An instead of pulling out each bottle to read the label, just write the essential info on the tag and attach it. You just might find something you forgot about and open it right away. One less tag needed.
- Wine Vacuum Pumps. Before closing up your bottle, you can pump the excess air out of it. Similar in purpose to the preservers above, it creates a vacuum to prevent any air in the bottle from flattening the wine. The pump comes with a special stopper for that purpose. Best for
red wines,
these really work well. I once kept a bottle open for a week and the wine was still good. Maybe some bars ought to take that cue.
Since wine accessories like
corkscrews,
wine glasses,
wine decanters,
wine racks,
wine gifts, and wine baskets
merit more extensive discussion, they have their own pages. Feel free to check them out. I would.
